Your Week: A major, free festival in Coogee, art shows, music and more all happening in Perth this week

Coogee Live Today 10.30am-9pm and tomorrow 10.30am-5pm, Coogee Beach Coogee Beach will come alive this weekend with this big, family-friendly festival featuring 130 events, activations and shows. Highlights include hundreds of mermaids converging on Coogee Beach at 10.30am today in a record-breaking attempt to have a major mermaid migration. There is plenty of live music, including Noongar Lullabies From Swan performed by the Moorditij Maaman Men’s Group at 4.40pm today. Singer-songwriter Natalie Gillespie performs at 6.45pm and at 8pm Noongar-Jingili rapper Zero Emcee joins WAYJO’s 18-piece Wednesday Night Orchestra for a performance. Tomorrow there is even more music and live performance including celebrated chef Paul “Yoda” Iskov, the creative culinary force behind roving restaurant Fervor, doing a live cooking demonstration. The band mix Indigenous language with contemporary music to create music that will have you up and dancing, They are supported by Fremantle neo-soul collective, Butter. Free Art At Home Today and tomorrow, 10am-4pm, 25 Dalgety Street, East Fremantle Local artists Kerry Taylor, Deb Pyatt, Jill Yates, Cristabel Dowland and John Harris, come together for an exhibition held in an East Fremantle Federation residence. Work on show and for sale includes painting, drawing, textiles, jewellery and lamps. Free West Coast Pinball Festival Today, 9am-12.30pm and tomorrow, 10am-4.30pm, Belmont Park Racecourse, Burswood If you love the pinnies, check out this festival of all things pinball. The junior tournament for under- 13s kicks off at 10am today, and the championship qualifying tournament begins at 11am. The Championship Tournament finals take place tomorrow at 10.30am.
