DISSH The stylish elegance of this popular Australian label has hit Perth, as it opened its first WA store in Claremont Quarter this week along with a pop-up store at Karrinyup Shopping Centre. Demand for the female-led brand’s cool, minimalist look has skyrocketed in recent years, leading to an expansion west. For the Claremont store, the label worked with Melbourne interior designer Brahman Perera for a space that “balances urban sophistication with coastal warmth and echoes the DNA of DISSH” with big shopfront windows, draped fabric and change rooms with warm, natural light. Perth Comedy Festival This chuckle-fest is returning next year, with a line-up of funny folk from all around the world. The first acts announced include Ireland’s Pat and Faye Shortt, Brit Mat Ewins, India’s Varun Grover and Ashwyn Sing, Schalk Bezuidenhout from South Africa and New Zealanders Chris Parker, Guy Montgomery and Melanie Bracewell. The Aussie contingent is led by the hilarious Nazeem Hussain with his new show You Paid For This, as well as Becky Lucas, Luke Heggie and Wankernomics. There will be shows at the Regal Theatre, Astor Theatre, Rechabite Hall and Goodwill Club, plus Freo Social, between April 21 and May 18, with more acts to be announced this month. Millennial If you can’t hear a Britney Spears bop without dancing, this show is right up your alley. Lisa Woodbrook, who has spent the past year at sea performing on cruise ships, is coming back to shore for Fringe World — with her new show, MILLENNIAL: Hits of the 90s and 00s. Accompanied by dancers, she’ll perform all the bangers close to this generation’s heart, including songs from Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, Shania Twain, Beyonce and Robbie Williams. Omakase by Shane Middleton This chef’s table experience for the culinarily trusting has arrived at Papi Katsu, the subterranean Japanese restaurant and bar at Brookfield Place. The seven-seat table has a front-row view of chef Shane Middleton’s process as he prepares 13 courses, paired with drinks by beverage director Eoin Kenny. Omakase, meaning “I’ll leave it up to you” will see guests try dishes, including the pictured caviar, a dish of crayfish, enoki and nori dishes and another of duck, plum and sable, over a 2.5-hour dinner. Beaches Of Australia’s South West It’s just a fact that WA has some of the world’s most spectacular beaches and Perth photographer Daniel de Giosa, aka DG Imagery, has devoted himself to capturing them in all their glory.
