Gregory Ross Williams: Man who allegedly committed armed home burglary and led reckless chase appears in court

A man who allegedly broke into an Albany home while armed, stole a car and led police on a dangerous car chase through the CBD on Tuesday has appeared in court for the first time. Gregory Ross Williams appeared in custody at Albany Magistrates Court on Wednesday, charged with armed robbery, aggravated home burglary and commit, giving false details to a public officer, stealing a motor vehicle and driving recklessly, reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, no authority to drive (suspended), and failing to comply with a direction to stop a vehicle. The 43-year-old was arrested in Lockyer on Tuesday alongside a 40-year-old female co-accused after he allegedly broke into a home on Rowley Street in Albany at 7.36am. He allegedly stole a white Ford falcon from the property and, together with his co-accused, led police on a reckless chase that saw them driving the wrong way through the Chester Pass Road roundabout. Mr Williams, who was already on bail for seven unrelated offences, had his bail revoked by Magistrate Erin O’Donnell. Duty lawyer Raymond Muir indicated a bail application would be made on his next appearance. He will next appear in Albany Magistrates Court on April 24 for unrelated stealing and home burglary charges before appearing in Katanning Magistrates Court for the slew of charges related to Tuesday’s alleged offending on April 29.
