Augusta councillor Nicky Jones takes six months leave from official duties
Shire of Augusta-Margaret River councillor Nicky Jones has been forced to take a six-month leave of absence from her duties.
The Augusta-based first-term elected member filed for the leave due to personal circumstances.
Councillors have unanimously backed the request, which will have Cr Jones off-duty until at least the start of next year.
While no specific reason for the absence was given, Cr Jones asked for privacy.
Colleagues said they wished Cr Jones well and understood the reasons behind her decision.
Cr Jones was elected in October last year in second place in polling for four vacancies, scoring 858 votes.
She campaigned alongside fellow new councillor Greg Boland who came third in the poll.
