After long deliberations, the City of Rockingham’s Sports Star Awards judging panel has selected the finalists for 2014.

The awards, now in their 18th year, provide an opportunity to recognise members of the community people who are excelling in their chosen sport.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said he was always impressed by the outstanding athletic talent in Rockingham.

“I know the quality and quantity of nominations makes for a tough job for the judging panel,” he said.

“This year we will recognise local talent at a variety of levels, including world, national, State, regional and local competition level champions.

“We also recognise the invaluable contributions of the many volunteers who do so much to keep our local sporting groups and competitions functioning.”

Get to know the finalists during the next month in the lead up to the awards night on Thursday, October 2.
