BDCA women’s: Colts bowl out Marist for just 33 in remarkable 40-run win, Donnybrook dominate Leschenault

Colts bowled out Marist for just 33 to secure a remarkable 40-run Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association women’s first-grade victory at Bunbury Recreation Ground on Sunday. The hosts’ first-innings score of 73 looked sub-par but proved more than enough, with a brilliant bowling and fielding effort seeing them need only 15 of their 30 overs to end the visitors’ efforts well short of the modest target. Only Addison Hall reached double figures with the bat for Colts, making 24 from 28 deliveries as Kayleigh Lynch (3-15 from six overs), Nargis Madadi (2-12 from five overs) and Quinn Newton (2-21 from six overs) did the damage with the ball for Marist. Rather than one bowler running riot in the second-innings rout, all of Colts’ bowlers had an impact, with Imogen de Chaneet (2-4 from one over), Emma Bresser (2-3 from four overs), Hall (2-15 from four overs) and Lily Finlay (1-2 from three overs) all playing their part. Their tight bowling was complemented by a brilliant fielding effort which saw them claim three wickets with run-outs. At Leschenault Recreation Reserve, Donnybrook cruised to an 81-run victory over Leschenault. Batting first, the visitors crafted a strong total of 4-145 from their 30 overs, with captain Lisa Smith (35 from 98 balls) and Ashleigh Towers (28 from 50 balls) prominent with the bat. Captain Hollie Perkin (2-21 from six overs) was the only bowler to take multiple wickets for the Green Caps in a sloppy effort in which they conceded 60 extras. The hosts never seriously threatened their target, being bowled out for 64 in the 18th over with only Perkin (17 from 32 balls) reaching double figures. Imogen King was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors with figures of 3-13 from four overs, while Smith (2-4 from three overs) and Courtney Marshall (2-11 from 2.5 overs) also had solid showings.
