Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has reiterated her solidarity with the people of Gaza at a climate demonstration, chanting "no climate justice on occupied land".

"As a climate justice movement, we have to listen to the voices of those who are being oppressed and those who are fighting for freedom and for justice," she said on Sunday.

"Otherwise, there can be no climate justice without international solidarity."

Thunberg then passed the microphone to a woman wearing a Palestinian scarf who said Israel was "committing genocide" in her country and deliberately attacking hospitals and civilians.

One man jumped onto the stage in front of the cameras, grabbed the microphone from Thunberg and said: "I came here for a climate demonstration, not a political view."

Thunberg, wearing a traditional black and white Palestinian scarf, called on participants to stay calm before taking back the microphone.

Thunberg previously made similar statements criticising Israel's siege on Gaza at a rally last month and was criticised for not also mentioning the Israeli victims of the Hamas massacre on October 7, which left about 1200 dead.

The organisers of Sunday's event said some 85,000 people took part, making it the largest demonstration of its kind in the Netherlands so far.
