Calista dog destroyed after chomping on cop’s foot
A dog who attacked a police officer has been destroyed and its owner fined more than $3000.
On May 12, police officers were called to a home in Calista.
While they were inside the house, the dog launched at one officer, latching on to his boot and biting through the shoe and sock.
It took two people to drag the dog off the officer. The dog’s bite caused tissue damage to the officer’s foot.
The dog’s owner Skye Belinda Hall did not show up in Rockingham Magistrate’s Court last Friday after being charged over the attack by the City of Kwinana.
It was revealed the dog was declared as dangerous, and Hall had also been charged with failing to ensure the entrances to the house had warning signs displayed.
It was not the first time the dog had attacked, with Hall convicted twice in the past year for similar offences.
Magistrate Geoff Lawrence said the attack would have been “frightening” for the officer.
She was fined $2000 and ordered to pay $1,141 in court costs.
