Cold case detectives arrest man at Perth Airport over 2011 Wellard armed robbery, 16y/o threatened with knife

A man who allegedly held a knife to a teenage girl’s throat during a terrifying home invasion in Wellard has been denied bail at his first appearance in court, more than 13 years on from his alleged crime. Police allege Neage Dowad Kuol Dang entered a Wellard home and approached a 16-year-old girl sleeping in the lounge room just before 3am on June 22, 2011. “He allegedly held a knife to her neck to stop her calling for help before he stole various items and left the home,” a police spokeswoman said. Mr Dang, of no fixed address, was arrested at Perth Airport’s domestic terminal after he arrived on a flight from New South Wales. He is facing charges of deprivation of liberty, aggravated armed robbery and aggravated burglary. Mr Dang made a brief appearance in Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday where he was denied bail by Magistrate William Yoo, who gave him six weeks to seek legal advice. He is next scheduled to return to court on February 20.
