Forensic police are at the scene and are focusing on an area of bushland across from the home where it is believed the woman lives.
Deputy Police Commissioner Kylie Whiteley said the woman had “quite serious injuries”.
“We are still not quite clear about how those injuries have come about but we’ve got a good investigation team on the case and hopefully we can get some more answers very soon,” she said.
“But it is very, very concerning . . . it’s very serious.”
A neighbour told The West Australian she saw police lights outside her window before a detective came to speak to her.
She said she had no idea what had happened but was shocked to hear a woman had been seriously injured as it is normally a very peaceful street.
