Police investigating after Banksia Grove house fire reveals cannabis plants growing

Police are investigating after a home converted to grow cannabis plants caught on fire in the early hours of Monday.

A WA Police spokeswoman said that patrolling police observed smoke coming from the roof at a home on Abbey Road in Banksia Grove about 3am.

The Department of Fire and Emergency attended to extinguish the fire, which had caused damage to the kitchen and hallway.

Inside it was found that several rooms had been converted to grow cannabis plants hydroponically.

No one was in the home at the time of the fire.
