A 24-year-old Karloo man charged with allegedly smashing a taxi’s bonnet and windscreen

A Geraldton taxi driver has avoided injury after his cab was allegedly jumped on and smashed by a young man while stopped in traffic in Karloo on Tuesday.

Police allege that about 8am on Tuesday April 8, a taxi was stopped in traffic on Assen Street when the man jumped onto the bonnet of the car.

It is further alleged he hit the windscreen causing it to smash while the taxi driver was seated in the front seat. No one was injured during the incident.

Geraldton police have charged a 24-year-old Karloo man with criminal damage or destruction not due to fire in relation to the incident after he was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.

He will appear before the Geraldton Magistrates Court at a later date.
