Chill out or heat up this Shore Leave Festival with Fire & Ice Recovery for the ultimate wellness experience

Shore Leave is offering festival-goers a opportunity to chill out or sweat it out while enjoying the picturesque surrounds of Geraldton’s foreshore. The 2025 festival is just around the corner, and this year will be bigger and better than ever with delicious food, amazing entertainment and fun-filled activities for anyone and everyone to enjoy — with an emphasis on local producers and businesses. For those who may be looking for a way to unwind and relax after a busy start to the year, Fire & Ice Recovery will be down at the Geraldton foreshore offering a mobile sauna and ice bath experience from Thursday, April 24 to Sunday, April 27 during the four-day festival. Fire & Ice Recovery is a Geraldton-based, locally owned business run by Sarah Ramsay and Stormi Ranui, who promise “the ultimate wellness and recovery experience for peak performance and deep relaxation”. The pair bought the business from two Perth men and now travel to various markets, events and sporting clubs around the region, with their six-person traditional sauna mounted on a custom trailer and two inflatable ice baths equipped with chillers and filters for cold and clean water. Ms Ramsay and Mr Ranui are both “incredibly passionate about health and wellness”, both physical and mental, with Mr Ranui recently completing his cold-water immersion certificate and Ms Ramsay currently completing a Certificate IV in fitness. They were interested in bringing something out of the ordinary to Geraldton. “We loved the idea of bringing something unique like this to Geraldton,” Ms Ramsay said. “We were already fans of the sauna but funny enough, we hadn’t tried an ice bath until we took over. Once we did, we were hooked. The focus and energy boost afterwards is next-level.” The sauna and ice baths will be stationed between Dome Cafe and Town Beach during the festival. People can chill out in the 3C bath to activate the release of endorphins, norepinephrine and improve circulation, or sweat out the toxins in a 70C sauna. “We’re super excited to be part of Shore Leave this year,” Mr Ranui said. “Shore Leave reached out to us, which was an awesome surprise ... straight away (we) knew it was a great opportunity for us to share the ultimate wellness and recovery experience with both the local community and visitors. “One of our favourite things is seeing people try the sauna and ice bath for the first time and the buzz they get afterwards — it’s such a rewarding feeling and and we’re really looking forward to helping our community relax, recharge and reset.” Saunas and ice baths are not for everyone. They may not be recommended for people with certain medical conditions, so Ms Ramsay and Mr Ranui encourage people to check with their healthcare provider if they’re unsure.
