Lotto: Mandurah couple in disbelief over $300,000 Loaded Multiplier scratchie top prize win
A Mandurah couple have received the surprise of a lifetime when they won hundreds of thousands of dollars after purchasing a Lotto scratchcard.
The pair in their 70s bought a Loaded Multiplier scratchie from Nextra Forum West Newsagency in Mandurah, earning them a whopping $300,000 after they secured the top prize.
“I scratched the ticket as normal and it looked like we had won,” the man said.
“We kept checking and checking, we thought it must be an error, you never think it’s actually going to happen to you.”
The couple were in disbelief and the woman went back to the newsagency to confirm their win.
As soon as the woman walked through the front door of their home, the man knew he was in for some incredible news.
“When she walked in the door, I saw the look on her face and knew straight away,” he said.
“That’s when the celebrating started. We jumped in the car and drove straight up to Lotterywest HQ to claim the prize.
“We didn’t want to risk losing the ticket, imagine that!”
The couple said they plan on using their big prize money to live more comfortably and help support their children.
Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender revealed this was the first scratchie top prize of 2025.
“What a fantastic start to the year for this couple,” she said.
“Since 1 January, we’ve also seen three WA players win division two in Set for Life, meaning they’ll pocket $5000 a month for the whole year.”
In the final week of 2024, a Parmelia couple experienced similar joy when they discovered their scratchie they had bought on a whim had scored them $100,000 as the top prize.
“On Saturday I woke up feeling funny and with itchy palms, so I decided to take this as a sign to go and treat myself to a scratchie ticket,” the man in his 50s said.
The Parmelia couple plan to spend their newfound cash on a holiday to none other then the popular holiday island of Bali.
