West Australians have been told they could create history on Tuesday by becoming the biggest individual OZ Lotto winner.

The national lottery competition is offering a $70 million prize on Tuesday night, the fourth largest jackpot sum in the game’s history.

It is expected around 700 tickets will be sold every minute between 4pm and 5pm as ticket sales close at 6pm either in-store or online.

It’s been more than a year since Western Australia had a division one winner in the Oz Lotto, with a $20 million winning ticket being sold by a Hocking newsagency in July, 2023.

According to the Lotterywest website there is approximately a one in 62,891,499 chance of winning a division one prize per game.

Nevertheless, Western Australia has been off to a lucky start this year, with seven division one wins across all games, more than double the three wins from last January.

Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said many of the State’s recent wins have come in the form of syndicates.

“Although an individual winner would set a new OZ Lotto prize record, we hope to see a WA syndicate take home the $70 million prize,” he said.

“Many of our larger wins in recent history have been shared by a group of players, which is a great way to share the cost of a ticket and hopefully the joy of a win.

“It’s been a great start to the year for Lotto wins in WA and we hope to add another WA win to the tally tonight.”
