The Carnamah-Coorow Basketball Association celebrated its grand final night last month, with the season coming to an end as the top men’s and women’s teams battled it out for glory.

The women’s division grand final was played out between Olympians and Lakers, with both teams having a win over each other during the regular season, making the decider anyone’s game.

Going into the half, Olympians attained a seven-point-lead over Lakers and went into the second half with their foot on gas as they pulled away by the way of consistent scoring beyond the arc.

Valiant efforts from the Clayton sisters led the way for their Lakers side but unfortunately for them it wasn’t enough.

Olympians claimed the victory and were crowned premiers over Lakers with the final score 42-32. Lakers player Helen Clayton was awarded game MVP despite her side’s loss.

The men’s grand final cam right down to the wire as the Bunjil Bandits took on the OC’s with both teams having close battles throughout the regular season.

Last time both teams met in the regular season it was decided by the barest of margins with the Bandits taking it out by one point with the OC’s taking out the second regular season game by two points.

At the end of the half it was the Bandits up by one point with an evenly matched second half reflecting the contest at hand which saw the game go to overtime with the end of regulation time score reading 38 apiece.

The first period of overtime still failed to split the two sides on the scoreboard with consistent shooting from the line from Bandits taking it to a second overtime at 42 apiece.

The OC’s fell into foul trouble with Bruce Chisholm and Simon Brandenburg both fouled out which opened the door for Bandits to take advantage.

OC’s only managed a single three from Daniel Essers but it wasn’t enough as Bandits ran away with it. Bandits crowned premiers, winning 49-45.

Game MVP was awarded to Bandits’ Rayden Solomon in an impressive performance for his side.

Season presentations took place after the grand finals with the best players of the season being recognised.
