A body has been found following the disappearance of a man in the Murrumbidgee area of NSW nearly 10 days ago.

NSW Police delivered the tragic update on Friday afternoon, saying they believed the body to be that of missing man David Green.

“While the body has not yet been formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing man,” a NSW Police spokesman said.

“Initial inquiries suggest the circumstances surrounding the man’s death are not suspicious.”

The 62-year-old was last seen in the Darlington Point area on October 16, the police said.

When he could not be located or contacted, officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District were notified and launched an extensive search operation.

“The land and water search continued today when a body was located.”

Darling Point is about 610km west of Sydney.

The police will prepare a report for the coroner.
