Port Kennedy musician Aaron Gwynaire will perform songs from his soon-to-be-released debut album during an acoustic session at The Admiral Hotel on Sunday.

The 22-year-old has been hitting the recording studio each week, juggling the sessions with two jobs and regular gigs.

He hopes the album, Patchwork Skies, will be available early next year.

“I will play some new covers and originals,” Gwynaire said.

“I’ll be playing a lot of tunes from the upcoming album but in an acoustic version.

“The album has all instruments included, so I’ll play a stripped-down version.”

Gwynaire said Patchwork Skies would contain about 13 songs and backing vocals from his girlfriend, Alysha Magnum, who also co-wrote the tune, See The Light.

“I get my inspiration from various things,” he said.

“The inspiration for songs I have written recently have come from travelling — coming from England to Australia and leaving my family behind.

“I write about life experiences and love. I love The Beatles and that old-fashioned songwriting style.

“They are simple but catchy songs.”

The indi/rock album will include plenty of keyboard, influenced by Gwynaire’s love of new wave 1980s music.

It is being produced by Perth musician Peter Renzullo, who also assists with some instruments.

Make Believe was the first single to be recorded.

It will be part of Gwynaire’s set which starts at 3.30pm.
