Actor chases her dreams

Sound Telegraph

Rockingham teenager Krystina Tasker came one step closer to making a dream a reality when she set off for the glittering lights of Los Angeles.

The 17-year-old had always dreamed of becoming an actress and decided to use her gap year to undertake a professional acting course.

The former John Curtin College student signed up for the year long course at the TV1 Actors’ Studio, which includes audition technique, cold reading, accent reduction, improvisation, scene study and much more.

“I started dancing when I was three and started acting classes casually when I was finishing primary school,” Krystina said.

“I got the role of Eponine in the Black Swan Theatre production of Les Miserables in 2005 and that was pretty much the point that I decided I wanted to become an actor.”

The aspiring actress has even rubbed shoulders with some of LA’s elite, bumping into Katy Perry, Joan Rivers and Kim Kardashian.

“LA is great, the atmosphere is busy and fast and I love it,” she said.

“We will see what happens over the year — anything can happen.”
