One of Rockingham’s popular bed and breakfasts recently won a collection of awards putting the humble abode on the global map.

The Anchorage Guest House has received three separate awards through online reviews.

Late last year they were awarded a Hotels Combined Stellar Stays Award for customer satisfaction with a rating of 9.48 out of 10 placing the guest house in the top 3 per cent of over 800,000 properties worldwide.

Last month they made the 2016 Star Ratings Gold List of Australian Accommodation by exceeding guest expectations through Star Ratings Australia and received the 2016 Certificate of Excellence by Trip Advisor two weeks ago.

Owners Emiliano and Sylvia Barzotto said it was quite an achievement considering they had only been there three years. They attributed their success to the flexibility and care they gave to customers.

“We never say no, nothing is too much trouble and whatever people want we give them,” Mr Barzotto said.

“One weekend I read the businesses for sale section and the rest was history — I turned 60 and went mad, it’s a great little business and this is what we really enjoy.”

Having travelled all over the world the Barzottos say they have developed a feel for what people want and like.

“The award is based on our ratings through online booking sites and we get really good reviews because they are based on cleanliness, friendliness and comfortable beds,” Mrs Barzotto said.

To celebrate their third year of ownership and the awards, the energetic couple are offering a weekend’s accommodation for two.

“We would like to run a competition exclusively for readers of theTelegraph — a weekend away with Baci chocolates and French champagne on arrival and a bespoke meal for two,” Mr Barzotto said.

“I’ll cook for them whatever they like, I’m not a chef but I’m Italian.”

To enter the competition email editor@soundtelegraph.com.au and write in 25 words or less why you need a weekend away. The winner will be notified on June 17.
