Bandits launch raid on Calista
Bandits underlined their premiership credentials with a comfortable win over Calista in last weekend’s U17 A Division netball match at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex.
The ladder-leaders recovered from a slow start to close out a 48-13 triumph.
Calista began the match brightly and trailed by a single point at quarter-time.
However, Bandits lifted their output in the second quarter and began to take control of the game through Paris Orvad.
Bandits’ defence, led by Hannah Sutherland and Olivia Lewis, also proved hard to break down, while their shooting accuracy improved throughout the match.
Gemma Moore was the best in a losing cause for Calista.
The result was made all the more sweeter for Bandits goal-attack Morgan Van Hinte, who celebrated her 13th birthday.
Bandits lead the eight-team competition by two points from Vipers.
Bandits also recently won recognition as the ANZ Junior Club of the Week and were featured during last weekend’s match between the West Coast Fever and Central Pulse.
