Basketball: Amos nets chance of a lifetime

Jake Amos, 17, is on his way to Texas as part of the All Australian Basketball Squad.

Rockingham's Jake Amos has netted himself the opportunity of a lifetime and is now one step closer to his dream of starring in the NBL.

The 17-year-old Comet Bay student has made the All Australian Basketball Squad.

Amos,whofirst picked up a basketball at age eight, is now preparing to travel to Texas on November 29 for three weeks of intense competition against American teams.

He represented the State in the U18 schoolboys squad where he was awarded MVP in WA for his efforts.

‘‘From the nationals I was the only one in WA selected for the All Australian team — it’s a good feeling,’’ he said.

Amos said he’s confident there will be scouts from colleges at the competition.

‘‘I’m hoping to get scouted. One day I’d like to be able to go to college in America and then aim for the NBL,’’ he said.
