TRAVIS YOUNGSound Telegraph

The Rockingham Flames men came from behind to end their six-game losing streak with an 83-76 victory over the Southwest Slammers in Bunbury on Saturday, emulating the women who had earlier won their first for the season.

US Import Jerel Allen top scored for the Flames, leading with 21 points and Rhett Della continued his fantastic season with 12 points.

Carlin Hughes finished his last game with 16 points before a fourweek break to go back to St Mary’s University in the US.

On Friday, the men had a tough loss to the Suns, going down 109-92.

Kenny Tribbet led the Flames with 24 points, while Allen had 22 and Della scored 20 points.

The women had earlier defeated the Slammers 76-62.

The team remains bottom on percentage, but Jacinta Bourne continued her great form this season, scoring a game-high 33 points and leading the team to a much-needed victory.

Bourne was backed up by Holly Coomey and Talisia Bourne, who each had 17 and 14 points respectively.

The women also played the Suns on Friday, losing 77-37, with Talisia Bourne leading the Flames’ scoring with 15 points.

The Flames are expecting the scoreboard problem at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex to be rectified this week, which will allow them to have their first home game of the year at Rockingham on Friday night against local rivals the Cockburn Cougars.
