With oven mitts on and a menu in mind, Bertram woman Rachel Mortimer is ready to cook a feast for a cause.

The mother of two is taking part in Camp Quality's Dine at Mine, inviting friends to enjoy a three-course meal to raise money for the children's cancer charity.

Mrs Mortimer said she took part in the fundraiser last year and was inspired to do it again after becoming friends with a couple whose son is suffering from brain cancer.

"They are just a lovely inspirational family, I don't know how she (the mother) manages - she has twin girls and then her son, who is unwell and he is also autistic."

Always happy to host a dinner party, Mrs Mortimer said holding the event was her way of giving back to families in need of support.

"I'm thankful for what I have and if there is anything I can do to help those families, I know I can't help physically but by doing something like this it is helping them indirectly," she said.

"I've been lucky to have two healthy children with no major issues … I just want to give back.

"It is not much and I enjoyed doing it, so if I can raise some money on the side and help, then why not?"

Mrs Mortimer said she raised more than $500 at her last event and hoped to go above that this year, already raising $300.

She will host her dinner on August 23.

Camp Quality offers events and support to families. Its purpose is to create a better life for every child living with cancer in Australia.
