Biggest shutdown in rail operator’s history to hit Mandurah line
Rockingham and Kwinana commuters face disruptions as Transperth plans for its biggest rail shutdowns in history.
Transperth’s David Hynes said disruptions would run from July 12-17 and again from July 31 to August 4 to allow essential work on the Perth City Link project.
He said during the five-day shutdown Midland and Armadale line trains would terminate at McIver on weekdays and Claisebrook on weekends and Joondalup and Mandurah trains would terminate at Leederville and Esplanade respectively, while the entire Fremantle Line would be closed.
“This will allow the new Fremantle Line tunnel to be connected to the Transperth rail network,” he said.
During the second closure Joondalup and Mandurah line passengers will be able to travel on the train only as far as Leederville and Esplanade stations respectively.
Replacement buses will run during the closures.
