A 20-year-old Warnbro man has faced court after a police chase through Rockingham last week.

Police allege that Logan Brown was riding a motorcycle with a machete strapped to his back last Tuesday morning and accelerated away from officers when directed to stop.

Around 11.50am the accused is said to have abandoned the motorcycle and fled inside Rockingham Shopping Centre.

Mr Brown allegedly threw his motorcycle helmet into one store and abandoned the machete in another before being apprehended.

He allegedly had a meat cleaver in his waist band and was in possession of drugs.

Mr Brown faced Perth Magistrates Court last Wednesday on seven charges, including stealing a motor vehicle, reckless driving, possession of prohibited drugs and being armed in a way that may cause fear.

He was remanded in custody to reappear in court on December 12.
