Bishop ready to harness the positive power of his Brain

ARRAN MORTONSound Telegraph

When it comes to feeling happy and content with life, Bishop Peter Brain can offer sound advice.

The Rockingham-based bishop is urging members of the community to join him in a series of talks and biblical readings designed to increase thankfulness, forgiveness, contentment and perseverance.

“About ten years ago I learned of a positive psychology movement in the US that worked on these areas,” he said. “I thought, this is what Christianity has been teaching for years and decided to incorporate the theories with teachings from the Bible.”

The pastor said it was unrealistic to expect to be content, unless we were thankful and being thankful to God was the key.

“Sometimes the ups are harder to take that the downs,” he said.

“It doesn’t matter if we fail, is all comes down to whether we are prepared to try again.”

Visit St Nicholas Anglican Church, 14 Council Avenue, Rockingham, on Monday from 9.30am to participate in Habits of Happiness.
