Book dream realised

Warnbro resident Claire Boston is proud to call herself an author after launching her debut e-book, What Goes on Tour, in January.

The romance novel set against a rock ‘n’ roll backdrop has received good reviews from readers.

Boston said she got the idea for What Goes on Tour when watching television.

“I was watching MTV or one of those music shows and I saw Marilyn Manson,” she said.

“I wondered what makes someone put on that kind of persona? He’s probably a really nice guy.

“That’s how my character Adrian was born.”

She said the book might not be what readers expected.

“It is a sweet romance, which means all the sex happens off the pages — it’s not too hot and heavy. I’ve had some really good reviews.”

Boston has had a love of writing all her life and recalls making up stories about her favourite television characters when she was just six.

She began writing a fantasy book at university but stopped after nine chapters when marriage, work and setting up a home got in the way.

“I just never got back to it,”

she said. “I knew if I ever wanted to have a book published I needed to get serious about it.”

A strict writing schedule provided a catalogue of work Boston hopes to publish.

“Romance and fantasy are my two favourite genres,” she said.

Boston launched the book at Warnbro Community Library which is dedicated to her late father, Doug Leggett.
