The Baldivis Brumbies are fit and ready to take on the competition in the Peel Football League this season.

League coach Michael McCann said the players had been hitting the pre-season track since December and were in fine form to take on the Rockingham Rams in round 1.

“We have been working hard on our ball work and skills and trying to improve the way we play as a team,” he said.

“We are getting the league boys together for two nights of training each week and developing a solid game plan.

“We had a pretty good year last year — I would like to see the boys go hard again and aim to win a couple of finals.”

The Brumbies finished in fifth position in 2015 and played in the first final.

With the addition of a few new players this season, McCann said he hoped they could improve on last year’s result.

“Eddie Dann has joined us from Peel Thunder and he will be a valuable asset, especially as we have a fairly young team,” he said.

“It will be good to get a few older heads among the boys to improve communication.”

With more than 100 senior players on the list, the Brumbies are one of the biggest clubs in the Peel region.

Alongside the colts, reserves and league squads, Baldivis also has enough players to make up a thirds team which competes in a different metropolitan league.

“It is fantastic to have so many guys,” McCann said.

“It’s a popular club that just keeps growing, and most of our players are under the age of 23 which is a good sign.

“Baldivis is a great area to live in and we are finding lots of new players want to come down and play as a way to meet new people.

The Brumbies travelled to Balcatta to play Stirling Football Club in a scratch match over the weekend and will face Rockingham at Anniversary Park on April 2 at 4.30pm.
