Budding snappers to hone their skills

DEAN STACEYSound Telegraph

Budding local photographers will have the opportunity to hone their skills with the opening of the Rockingham Youth Photography Club later this month.

Open to anyone aged 12-21, the club was established by the Rockingham Photography Club to help young photographers learn tricks of the trade alongside people of a similar age.

Its inaugural meeting is set down for August 14 at the Gary Holland Centre in Rockingham.

No prior experience is necessary and photographers of all abilities are encouraged to attend.

‘‘It’s for young people interested in photography as a hobby or they may even look at doing it for a career,’’ Rockingham Photography Club vice-president Kingsley Klau said.

‘‘There will be tuition and training and a competition each month.

‘‘Older people tend to do more boring things, their meetings are longer and this gives young people the chance to be creative in their own age groups.’’
