Cheap goals lead to a loss

Sound Telegraph

After last week’s victorious result over rivals Mandurah City, Rockingham were brought back down to earth with a bang losing 6-1 against a strong Dianella outfit.

New signing goalkeeper Bobson Koroma made his debut, but his early error allowed the visitors to take the lead and it was all one-way traffic in the first-half.

The hosts went into the interval 3-0 down.

Rockingham coach Charlie Smith tried hard to motivate his players at half-time and told them to stand up and stop conceding cheap goals.

In the second half Rockingham did compete, but the run of the green was with Dianella who scored another couple of goals before Rafa Insaurralde got one back.

Rockingham returned to training this week for the Cool Ridge State Cup game against Southern Spirit on Saturday.

The reserves get underway at 12.45pm followed by the first team at 3pm.

The reserves were unlucky to lose an even game 1-0, after Dianella struck nine minutes from time.

There was much better news for the under-18s who put a whopping 14 goals past Dianella.

A great team display with Josh Mackinder (6), Ryan Haslett (5), Shane Boyle (2) and Patrick Jones all on the scoresheet.

Rockingham City under-18s have a bye as Southern Spirit do not have a team.

Next up in league action for Rockingham is Canning City on May 4. Kick-offs are at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
