The wait is over and the Rockingham Mandurah Lutheran Church community is rejoicing after they finally welcomed a new Pastor earlier this year.

It has been almost two years since the Church last had a Pastor but the arrival of Steve Liersch and his family has been a cause for celebration.

Pastor Steve arrived in Rockingham after relocating from the Adelaide Hills and said he was blown away by the welcome he received.

“Moving states was a fairly major operation, especially with three teenage children but we had a few months to prepare ourselves,” he said.

“The community has been wonderful and supportive and we are loving the area.

“The location of schools and sporting clubs not to mention the beautiful geographic setting were all factors that helped us make out decision to move.”

A minister in the Lutheran Church of Australia since 1992, Pastor Steve will be based in the Living Waters Lutheran College Chapel.

He will lead worship every Sunday at 8.30am at the Mandurah worship site at the Halls Head Living Waters campus before heading back to Warnbro for service at 10.30.

Pastor Steve said he was looking forward to connecting with the church and school community.

“I was excited to be a part of this ministry here and the Church’s profile is fantastic — I think a lot of that is because of the school,” he said.

“I hope to build on that and encourage worship beyond the college and academic year and make it part of our lives all the time.

“We have already had some fantastic events so far this year and the people here have been very responsive and engaging.”

Pastor Steve was officially installed by the WA Bishop Reverend Greg Pfeiffer on January 31 at a service attended by more than 100 people.
