Club legend Fielding to take on first-grade role

Rockingham Sharks under-18 joint-coach Stephen Fielding has been appointed the team’s first-grade coach for 2014.

Stephen has been part of the successful team, along with John Leilua, that has taken the under-8s to the grand final of this week’s WA Rugby League final series.

His football and coaching experience however cannot be understated having played 26 times for WA and five times as State captain during the 1990s.

The club’s senior, under-18s and premier league teams are in the WARL grand finals, it will hope to build on this foundation next year.

Sharks under-18s were victorious over Kalamunda in an exciting game which went down to the wire.

The Sharks scored two tries in the last four minutes to score on the bell to win 28-24.

In the premier grade, the Sharks blew the Kalamunda side away, winning the game 40-16.

The Sharks also won the under-13s premiership and were runner-up in the under-14s and under-16s premiership.

The under-18s will play South Perth and Fremantle in premier grade at Ken Allen Reserve, Hilton, on Saturday.
