Rockingham Detectives are seeking information in relation to a break in to a Cooloongup home on April 8 when a 31-year-old man was shot in the leg.

The victim has since had his lower leg amputated.

Police said the man was asleep at his Lynda Crescent house with his partner and three children aged between six and 10 years.

Six male offenders wearing hoodies attended at the home in a white 4WD, and forced entry to the premises at about 1.55am.

One of the offenders was armed with a firearm, and discharged it inside the house in close proximity to the children.

They then confronted the 31 year old man, and demanded property from him. He was then shot in the lower left leg, before the offenders left the house empty-handed in the 4WD.

Shortly after the incident, the 4WD believed to be driven by the offenders, was recovered by police on Mornington Boulevard in Waikiki.

This vehicle was reported stolen in Esperance on April 1.

Police are seeking to identify the six men and ask that anyone with information on the men or the vehicle is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
