Dealership extends helping hand

The City of Rockingham RSL Sub Branch has received $5900 to update and maintain security systems at the club.

The donation was organised through Rockingham Mitsubishi/Kia which donated $100 from every vehicle sold during April.

Rockingham RSL president Tina O’Hara said they were grateful for the efforts of Rockingham Mitsubishi/Kia.

‘‘We really appreciate the donation from Rockingham Mitsubishi, it is fantastic that a local business has got behind us like they have, now we will be able to upgrade our security systems as we have had increasing break-ins at the club,’’ she said

‘‘Unfortunately, however, some memorabilia were taken which are irreplaceable, but the money will also help us with maintenance of the building.’’

Rockingham RSL senior vice-president Bob Gilmore said the donation had lifted the spirits of RSL members after the break-ins.

‘‘Our members really couldn’t understand why people would steal from veterans who gave their lives for the freedom of this country, so this donation has certainly helped us,’’ he said.

Rockingham Mitsubishi/Kia car sales manager Mark Manu said the company wished to support the community that supports it.

‘‘The RSL plays such an important role in Rockingham, they provide so much support to their members, their families and the local community,’’ he said.

‘‘We felt this was a great opportunity to give something back to them for all the hard work they put in year round.’’

Mr Manu said Rockingham Mitsubishi/Kia intended to continue sponsorship and maintaining a relationship with the RSL in the future.
