Double demerits over the weekend

Sound Telegraph

Rockingham police have reminded drivers to stay vigilant on the roads this Easter, with double demerits set to kick in.

Drivers will be hit with double points from midnight, Thursday, March 28, until 11.59pm, Monday, April 1.

Sergeant Andrew Maher said police would be targeting offences in relation to speeding, alcohol and drugs. “There will be more police on the roads and a higher visibility to ensure compliance with the rules,” he said.

Sgt Maher said many families travelled over the Easter break and the higher visibility would ensure they got to their destination in one piece.

“We want people to get where they are going safely,” he said.
