Pocket rockets from Rockingham Swimming Club took centre stage last week at the Australian Championships in Adelaide.

Holly Barratt came home with a gold and a bronze medal, while Tommy Sucipto brought back bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

Swimming WA chief executive Darren Beazley said the depth of talent coming out of the Rockingham Swimming Club was typified by Barratt’s success and teammate Sucipto, who had performed admirably.

“Coach Will Scott has established a club where swimmers are given the opportunity to progress with the maximum level of support — he is to be commended for his professionalism, evident by the success the club is enjoying,” he said.

“We look forward to seeing more Rockingham swimmers on the national and international stage.”

Sucipto, bagged the bronze medal with a time of 27.96sec. in the men’s 50m breaststroke, finishing equal third with NSW’s Matthew Treloar.

Barratt was crowned the champion in the 50m butterfly with a time of 26.19sec.

The gold medal came after Barratt won the bronze in the 50m backstroke, followed by an impressive effort in the 50m freestyle, in which she finished 5th behind favourites Cate and Bronte Campbell.
