Father inspires fun run

SOPHIE HAWKINSSound Telegraph

Golden Bay man Neil Hall joined more than 20,000 runners last Sunday to take part in the HBF Run for a Reason.

Mr Hall completed the 14km course of the fundraising event, but it was a family affair with his wife and daughter both taking part in the 4km run.

Mr Hall said the event was everything he hoped it would be.

‘‘It was a good day, the weather was great and we all finished,’’ he said.

‘‘My wife really enjoyed herself because it was an achievement for her to do the 4km.We all had a good time and I’ll definitely be doing it again next year.’’

Mr Hall’s involvement with running events began after his father, Graham, passed away after being diagnosed with melanoma.

Mr Hall now takes part in numerous running events raising awareness and funds for the Cancer Council and his schedule for 2012 doesn’t end with the HBF Run for a Reason.

He will run the City to Surf in Perth in September, a half-marathon in the UK and round off the year with an Ironman event in December.
