The Flames were able to overcome a sluggish start but they dominated the second and third quarters by turning up the defensive pressure.

Rockingham stretched the lead to 20 in the third quarter. However, things got interesting in the fourth when the Flames missed seven consecutive free throws and allowed Stirling to cut the lead to eight but Remmerswall scored a key basket in the post with 1min. 43sec. to play to stretch the lead back to 10 and seal the game.

The game carried extra importance for the Flames (6-5) as it moves them ahead of the Senators (5-5) on the ladder, and keeps them firmly in the top eight.

The women's game was never in doubt as the Flames opened with a 9-0 run and never looked back.

Jacinta Bourne was superb , leading in scoring with 24 points and five assists.

Darcee Garbin notched another double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

It was the Flames' defence that was more impressive than anything, as they held the Senators to just 27 per cent shooting.

Next for the Flames are title contenders Joondalup Wolves on Friday at Mike Barnett Sports Complex in Rockingham.

Tip-off is at 6.30pm for the women and 8. 30pm for the men.
