Football: Black set to play for our Dockers

In a major coup for local footy, former Fremantle Docker Heath Black is set to play out the rest of the season with the Secret Harbour Dockers.

Fresh from his run in the EJ Whitton Legends Game in Melbourne, Black has agreed to join long-time family friend and Secret Harbour Dockers coach Mark Pink and play out the rest of the 2011 season with the Mercantile League Division 1 team.

He is expected to don the Dockers’ jumper this Sunday at Rhonda Scarrott Oval, Golden Bay, in the match against Midland, starting at 1pm.

The Secret Harbour Dockers are a partner club of the Fremantle Dockers.

Pink said Black’s decision had created a buzz around the club.

‘‘Secret Harbour is really excited and pleased to have Heath on board,’’ Pink said.

‘‘He will be a great role model for the junior players and might help take us through to a premiership win.

‘‘And just to put rumours to bed — the club is not paying him anything for this.’’
