Football: Dominant Rams into semi-finals

JACK CRAWSHAWSound Telegraph

The Rockingham Rams have marched into the second week of finals with a convincing 18.17 (125) to 8.14 (62) win over the Pinjarra Tigers at Anniversary Park in the qualifying final.

Rockingham dominated the match from the first bounce, having the first shots at goal, with Pinjarra already looking overwhelmed at the 8-minute mark of the first quarter.

The game was disappointingly over at half time, as Rockingham continued to put the foot down and charge towards a second semi-final berth against defending two-time premiers the Waroona Demons.

Impressive play from the Rams allowed them to rotate players to rest up for the big clash next week.

Sean Wrigley has had the team firing in the last two weeks after a flat performance against Centrals.

Chris Oliver was exceptional for Rockingham, providing a target for the Rams in the first half and kicking two goals, while in the second half playing a key role in defence and showing his versatility.

Keren Ugle was also good, using the ball well on a number of occasions and proving a ball magnet for the Rams.

Eddie Dann also played well, providing run for the Rams.

His hard work and ability to create something out of nothing provided a quality that lit up a game of football from its dullest moments.

Next week, Rockingham travel to play Waroona at Parnell Street for the second semi-final.
