Rockingham athlete Brendan Tingey is preparing to travel to South Africa as part of the All Australian U15 football team.

Picture: Brendan Tingey, 15, is preparing to travel to South Africa after being named in the top 22 football players in Australia for his age group.

Tingey, 15, began kicking a football at four years old, before he had even begun school. After an 11-year dedication to the sport, he represented the State in Canberra, playing in the U15 team earlier this year.

Tingey was selected as one of the best 22 players across Australia from the competition, a result he is very proud of.

‘‘Now I am just really excited to play for the All Australian team,’’ he said.

As the team is scattered all over Australia, Tingey will not have the opportunity to train with them before the competition, but he will continue to play for the Rockingham Rams.

He will travel to South Africa to compete from January 18 to 30.
