Fundraiser a sweet success

The team at Malibu Pharmacy raised more than $800 last Thursday when they hosted Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea in support of the Cancer Council.

Manager Wendy Miles said it was fantastic to see the community gather in support of an important cause.

“A lot of our customers have been affected by cancer in one way or another and we decided hosting a morning tea was the perfect way to raise money and awareness,” she said.

“We beat our goal of $500 and have had great feedback from everyone involved.”

Cancer Council Rockingham support services officer Melanie Taylor attended the event and spoke to the gathering about the importance of the day.

“Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea has raised over $160 million since it was introduced 23 years ago,” she said.

“It is also the leading annual fundraising event for the Cancer Council, which provides vital research, prevention and support service programs.”

Ms Taylor also discussed the regional support services located at both Rockingham and Mandurah and how people affected by cancer could access these services.
