In a bid to take her fundraising efforts a step further, Secret Harbour mother Danielle Rosina is organising a not-for-profit event in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Ms Rosina, who was featured inThe Telegraph last month, has been using the profits from her small business to support diabetes research and is on a mission to find other business owners who are willing to contribute.

“I wish to create a family fundraising day that will take place in Mandurah on Sunday, November 13 to coincide with World International Diabetes Day on November 14,” she said.

“I have secured the use of the Keith Homes Reserve and all proceeds from the day will be used to support JDRF and its goal of making a world without type 1 diabetes.

“I wish to invite everyone to hold a stall on the day and advertise their business and support.

“We would love to see any fun, family friendly businesses including animal farms, face painting, bouncy castles, yummy treats and rides.”

Ms Rosina has enlisted the help of the City of Mandurah and has contacted 97.3 Coast FM who will provide advertising of the event in the lead-up.

She is also looking to sell her hair pieces through local businesses and already has One Stop Baby Shop in Port Kennedy and Nick Stephan Hair Studio in Secret Harbour on board.

One Stop Baby Shop co-owner Jill Edwards said she was happy to support such an important cause.

“We stock a lot of products which are made by local families and we meet a lot of mothers who have children with diabetes or have suffered with gestational diabetes themselves,” she said.

“Getting the information out there and spreading awareness is one way we can all help.”
