Goal feast for Strikers

ROBERT NICESound Telegraph

The Warnbro Strikers first team and reserves scored 10 goals between them to secure two convincing wins against reigning Div 4 soccer champions Cracovia at the weekend.

Lady luck was not with the club’s first team in the first half, with Cracovia netting the opening goal following a defensive lapse.

Down1-0 at half-time, the Strikers took little time to draw level following a penalty which saw a Cracovia player sent off.

Max Snelson fired home from the spot and Warnbro lifted a gear.

Darren Kaye, Gary Lunt and Olly Swords all found the net to complete an impressive 4-1 victory.

The reserves played an attractive 90 minutes with the end result a 6-2 victory. Warnbro’s tactical plan proved to be exactly what was needed to see off Cracovia, with Izzy Badaoui, Leon Ireland, Jayden Baker, Olly Swords and Deni Imamovic all on the score sheet.

Goalkeeper Joshua Fletcher was also a stand-out, producing three penalty saves.

Meanwhile, Warnbro’s U15 Div 1 side maintained their strong start to the season with a 5 -0 victory against East Fremantle to stay atop the ladder.

The young Strikers have scored 16 goals in three weeks and 41 for the season against only seven conceded.
