Organisations dedicated to serving the Rockingham community are urged to apply for a grant of up to $20,000 to help deliver the important programs.

Since 2010, the Rotary Club of Rockingham has been proud to support city organisations that “give back” through its Community Service Grant, made possible by donations collected at Village Green Sunday markets.

Community director Peter Philipps said the committee, which made the final decision, was proud to grant funds to organisations such as the Rockingham Low Cost Food Centre, SOUL Soup Patrol, Rockingham Dog Club, Rockingham Beach Primary School Education Support Centre and Friends of the Rockingham Arts Centre.

“We are sharing in the community spirit,” he said.

“We get the money from the community and want to give it back.”

Last year, Mr Philipps said the group received applications for grant requests totalling about $80,000 but were forced to narrow it to the most worthy.

“It we though the need was deserving enough, the organisation might get the whole $20,000 grant,” he said.

“This is an opportunity for an organisation to seek help which Rotary may not have reached before.”
