Gray promises results for ‘valued’ electorate

BRIAN OLIVERSound Telegraph

Brand MHR Gary Gray says he is the person to deliver results for the electorate, claiming to understand how to work within government, industry and the community to achieve positive outcomes.

The 54-year-old father-of-three will contest his third election this September and said the set date of the poll meant there would be no surprises and no excuses.

“All parties have time to lay out their fully detailed and costed plans for the consideration of voters,” he said.

“Announcing the date of the election means the Government can get on with policy implementation and government.”

Mr Gray said he understood families were struggling with the cost of living and the Federal Government had introduced a range of policies to ease the financial strain on households.

“Our economy is strong and on the right track, but families are worried about the cost of living, electricity, rents, school uniforms and groceries,” he said.

“That’s why Labor has put in place a package of measures to help people make ends meet and spread the benefits of the mining boom.

“We are delivering help so that families can make ends meet, with things like the School Kids Bonus.”

Mr Gray said since he was elected in 2007 he had secured more than $1 billion of Federal investment in Brand.

He claimed a vote for Liberal candidate Donna Gordin was a vote for Tony Abbott and his “destructive negativity”.

“The Federal Liberal Party has never been interested in the issues faced by the people who live in Rockingham and Kwinana,” he said.

“This is demonstrated by the fact that no Liberal Prime Minister has ever visited this electorate.

“By comparison, Prime Minister Julia Gillard visited three times in 2012 alone.”

Mr Gray, the Special Minister of State and Minister for Public Service and Integrity, said a re-elected Labor Government would ensure all Australians shared the benefits of the boom.

“I have a track record of achieving positive outcomes for the electorate of Brand and I don’t plan on holding back this year,” he said.
