Great things brewing
Students from Warnbro Education Support Centre brewed up a storm last Thursday to raise money for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea at Class 1 Orthodontics.
Maddie Rosson, Brayden Reed and Lachlan Curry made several cups of coffee, tea and hot chocolate as well as cupcakes for the day.
Class 1 Orthodontics marketing co-ordinator Alexandra Burges said staff were very excited and had become really involved in the day, bringing in a variety of sweet treats.
“We are now thinking of supporting a different charity once a month such as Sids for Kids Day and Jeans for Genes day due to the success of this morning tea,” she said.
“It’s a wonderful way of giving back to the community and we would like to continue the collaboration with Warnbro Education Support Centre.”
Students have become a regular feature of Tuesday mornings at Class 1 Orthodontics, making coffees for staff members and patients for the past two years.
Maddie, 15, Brayden and Lachlan, both 18, are three of many students who regularly work at the cafe to practise their barista and business skills.
Workplace transition co-ordinator Jacqui Jones said it was a wonderful ongoing collaboration that enabled students to learn in a safe and supportive environment.
“The Greatest Morning Tea was a special one and a great success, as is the program, with many students going on to get paid work,” she said.
