Gritty City extend unbeaten run

DEAN STACEYSound Telegraph

Rockingham City extended their unbeaten run to four matches with a gritty 1-1 draw against neighbours Mandurah in the latest round of State League Division 1 soccer fixtures.

Played under lights at Mandurah’s Hyundai Stadium, the home side were on the back foot early when Jay Bonser was given his marching orders after just five minutes.

Despite their numerical advantage, a David Clark penalty was all Rockingham could muster in an entertaining draw.

Clark has now found the net in is past three outings for the green and golds, including a brace in the previous weekend’s win over Fremantle.

Rockingham sit comfortably in seventh place, safely clear of relegation, but out of reach of promotion.

Meanwhile, Rockingham’s reserves played out a 2-2 draw with Mandurah, while the home side were comfortable 6-0 winners in the corresponding U18 match.
