Hairy fundraiser

A group of men from Rockingham, Safety Bay, Baldivis and Wellard have put away their razors and watched their facial hair grow at a rapid rate to raise money for Beyond Blue and men’s depression.

The men have raised more than $6000 for charity through their efforts to grow their beards for the past four months.

Members of the Brotherhood of the Beard: Assassination of the Razor, came together through their gym, Crossfit Assassin in Rockingham.

Group member Josh Lawson said the quest for the beard was initially to annoy their wives but it became bigger when they started raising money.

“We got a lot of support, first from our wives to get rid of the beards but then everyone got on board and offered overwhelming support,” he said. The men will be at Rockingham Shopping Centre this week handing out pamphlets for Beyond Blue and rattling tins.

This Saturday they will hold a Spring Fling Gala where they will judge the mightiest beard and free themselves of facial hair. To buy a ticket to the event contact Mr Lawson on 0458 438 348.
